Phil Hellmuth, Jr., of Palo Alto, California, is one of the most successful tournament poker players ever. Among his record 9 World Championship bracelets is one for winning the main No Limit Hold’Em event in 1989 when he was just 24, making him the youngest World Champion of Poker in History. Hellmuth is also the top tournament money winner in the last 15 years. While a much-coveted World Poker Tour victory continues to elude him, he has finished at two final tables on the popular Travel Channel series and is resolute in pursuing that goal. And not necessarily by being a nice guy, according to opponents and fans. Hellmuth has acquired a reputation as a “poker brat,” given to over-the-top trash talk, temper tantrums, and whining at the table.
