Profile
David Sklansky is generally considered to be one of the world’s foremost authorities on poker. The author of 10 books on the subject, including Amazon top-sellers The Theory of Poker and Hold’Em Poker for Advanced Players, he has also produced two instructional videos and written numerous articles for gaming publications.

Sklansky, the son of a Columbia University professor, describes himself as a child math and logics prodigy. He began playing – and analyzing – the game of poker as a student at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, often cutting classes with fellow students to play. The group would discuss each hand and how it could be played better. Soon, burned out on academics and primed to seek his fortune at the poker tables, Sklansky headed west and became a professional.

Sklansky went on to win three World Championship events in the 1980’s but playing eventually took a back seat to writing and consulting. However, he credits the World Poker Tour with the resurgence of poker’s popularity and with his own new interest in returning to the table.

Sklansky is sought after as a consultant to casinos, Internet gaming sites and gaming device companies. He was instrumental in the development of the World Poker Tour All-In Hold’Em ® , the new casino game marketed by Lakes Entertainment.

Sklansky resides in Las Vegas and is the proud father of a son who is a graduate of Columbia University.
